The following Axis Control tab allows you to define Search Parameters and Limiting Height values for the 5 Axis Auto-Rough operation. Refer to the dialog and parameters shown below.

Start Tool Axis This allows you to set a preferred starting direction via the Start Tool Axis parameter. The operation begins machining from this direction, then continues searching for any remaining areas not yet machined. Search Angle Increment This parameter allows you to define the Search Angle Increment in which the Auto-Rough operation will look for indexed 3+2 orientations to machine. For example, if Start Tool Axis is set to +Z and this parameters is set to 90, only orthographic directions will be machined. Max Stock to Leave The Stock parameter on the Cut Parameters tab controls how much material stays on the part, while Max Stock to Leave on the Axis Control tab controls when the operation stops looking for additional machining orientations. After each iteration, the operation evaluates the remaining un-machined stock. If a remaining un-machined area is smaller than this value, the toolpath calculation stops and no further directions are searched. This prevents generating setups for negligible remnants of material. Max Tilt Angle This controls the Max Tilt Angle of the tool axis for each cut direction. The angle is measured normal (i.e., perpendicular to) the Setup's XY plane for each calculated iteration. The default value of 90 means that the spindle axis is normal (i.e., perpendicular) to the Setup XY plane. |
