Engage/Retract Tab, 3+2 Roughing, 3 Axis

The following Entry/Exit tab allows you to define the engage and retract parameters for the current 3 Axis operation.  You can set Approach and Engage Motions for both Entry and Exit as well as Cut Connection parameters via this tab of the operation dialog.  Refer to each option below.

When the cutter must engage directly into the stock material the Engage/Retract tab can be used to control how the cutter enters and exits the cutting path.

Ramp / Helix
Here the cutter follows a helix as it descends from a user defined height to the first cut point. The Angle (A) of the helix as well as the Radius (R) of the helix can be specified.

Vertical Approach

The Approach Motion begins at the end of the Engage Motion and extends vertically to the cut start point.  You can specify the length of this linear motion by entering a value for Vertical Distance (A) in the dialog.  You can refer to the illustration in the dialog above.
